Begin with a full day in London before heading north for walking tours in Cambridge and medieval York. Overnight in Scotch Corner, then inspect a section of Hadrian’s Wall, and cross into Scotland for two nights in regal Edinburgh. Here, a Local Guide introduces you to the city and the mighty castle. Next, head south through the Lowlands to Gretna Green, where the blacksmiths used to wed runaway couples. Continue through the Lake District, visiting Wordsworth’s charming Grasmere, and follow the shores of beautiful Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake. Enjoy a walking tour of 2,000-year-old Chester and an overnight in Liverpool of Beatles fame. Next up: picturesque Llangollen in Wales. Return to England to Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and drive through the scenic Cotswolds.
